[ HOW WE CREATE ]
Bold ideas. Global impact.
Glassriver is Iceland’s leading forces in television and film - responsible for over half the country’s scripted series in recent years. Our leadership team has earned more than 50 international and domestic awards, and our work has reached audiences worldwide.
We work lean but think big: a small core team, nearly 1,500 collaborators every year, and productions that deliver on time, on budget, and beyond expectations. Every single project we make is a co-production, developed with international partners from day one — because great stories travel best when built together.
Scripted Productions:
We create award-winning dramas, thrillers, and comedies, with series like Black Sands and White, White Day capturing critical acclaim.
Documentaries:
From intimate stories like Reynir Sterki to cultural explorations like Island Songs, we shine a light on compelling human experiences.
Non-Scripted Formats:
Innovative entertainment like Tjútt and Glaumbær - Let’s Rock! redefines factual entertainment with a fresh perspective.

From noir thrillers to high-concept drama and character-driven comedies, our slate blends Icelandic edge with universal appeal.
Highlights include Black Sands, Fractures, Ordinary People, As Long As We Live, and Cold Haven. We’ve partnered with leading distributors including All3Media, Mediawan, Federation, Lionsgate, and Eccho Rights, selling our series across the Nordics, USA, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, and beyond.
[ about glassriver ]
The team behind Glassriver brought extensive industry experience long before the company was founded. Among their most notable early projects is Case, a Netflix Original Series selected by The New York Times as one of the Best International TV Shows of 2016. Directed by Baldvin Z., written by Andri Óttarsson, and produced by Abby Hafliðadóttir, the success of Case inspired the trio to continue their dynamic and creative collaboration—leading to the founding of Glassriver in 2016. The most recent addition to the ownership team is seasoned producer Andri Ómarsson, who now serves as the company’s CEO.
